Dr. Paul Sauget
Dr. Paul Sauget is finally home again. Returning to the island a U.S. Navy FMF veteran and the only board certified orthodontist in Guam to have practiced several years in the U.S. mainland, Dr. Paul Sauget and Future Smiles Orthodontics are excited to bring their expertise while serving their island community.
In the mid 90s, Dr. Paul Sauget’s orthodontics journey began. He attended Marquette University, where he was on the Dean’s List, majoring in business administration and biomedical sciences. In addition to his 4.0 GPA, Dr. Paul Sauget played NCAA Division 1 tennis and served under six different orthodontists as an orthodontics assistant. When he was selected for the Invitational Gross Anatomy and Head & Neck Anatomy courses after being the highest scoring student in Anatomy course history, he discovered his aptitude for anatomy. His love of anatomy continued at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.
While at U. of the Pacific School of Dentistry, Dr. Paul Sauget earned top anatomy student, researched radiology with two world-renowned orthodontists, and presented to the California Dental Association a case combining orthodontics with cosmetic dentistry treatment. In addition to serving as student body treasurer, he graduated with honors in 2004.
Following graduation Dr. Paul Sauget began his service to his country in the U.S. Navy as a dental FMF officer at 29 Palms USMC Air Ground Combat Center in the Mojave Desert. He gained further experience at his own Navy dental clinic at Ops Side NAS Lemoore where he took care of the fighter squadrons.
After four years active duty in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, Dr. Paul Sauget was matched to Indiana University for orthodontics residency where he published research on orthodontic elastics in the Angle Orthodontist international journal. One of his patient cases was also selected by the orthodontics department to represent Indiana University at the American Association of Orthodontists National Conference in Washington D.C. under the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Enriched by his mainland experience, Dr. Paul Sauget then returned home to Guam. He served as president of the Guam Dental Society and taught fellow dental providers technology such as CBCT 3D x-ray imaging, diode laser for painless gum surgery, appliances for facial orthopedic treatment, and sleep apnea screening. All of these topics stem from his passion for anatomy and how the body functions.
After living in Guam for three years, Dr. Paul Sauget returned to California to help friends from dental school open very successful orthodontic practices in Los Angeles and Sonoma County. He associated in Beverly Hills, treating cosmetic cases with Dr. Rashad Riman of R Dental Group. Dr. Sauget’s patients came from as far as France and Turkey for his treatment. Practicing in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Sonoma County allowed Dr. Paul Sauget to also become an orthodontist to the stars, where he treated actors, actresses, musicians, and models! He also taught other dental professionals the anatomy and dynamics of a beautiful smile. Dr. Paul Sauget even dabbled in acting. Ask him about his appearances on stage, in short films, tv pilots, prime time on ABC, and his 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination experience.
Dr. Paul also presents lectures and teaches at the UCSF orthodontic residency program. He is also an FAA licensed pilot for the non-profit organization Marianas Mission Aviation, and working toward his airline pilot license.
